My name is Jessica Gallo (nee Coulter), and I have been an art director and designer for over 12 years. I specialize in magazines & publications, small-business marketing materials, and map design. I am an experienced art director and project coordinator of photography and illustration and I especially like the challenge of organizing complicated projects to go more smoothly than expected! I work from St. Paul, Minnesota, both independently and also collaborating with other designers, agencies, copywriters, and artists.
I love working with words -- sometimes lots and lots of words that need to fit and fit well. I believe that the best design is quiet but powerful, allowing a client's goal and message to be clear. Design that invites people to read and allows them to do so.
In addition to designing for a range of clients, I also teach and guest lecture at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. Courses and topics include magazine publishing, art direction, typography, and portfolio presentation. I hold a BFA in graphic design from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.
